Pitch Black begins as a bourbon whiskey, maturing for at least two years in new, charred-oak casks to develop clean, fruity, apple-forward flavors. This "straight" bourbon uses a high-rye mash bill for a fruity midrange and spicy, peppery back-end, balanced by added coffee for a complex, clean profile. Aging in number four char barrels adds notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, and roasted espresso to the finish.

Pitch Black's coffee blend is fair-trade and organic, sourced from South American beans harvested sustainably using eco-friendly methods. Utilizing a "shade-grown" approach, it minimizes ecological impact and enhances wildlife diversity, particularly for birds. This Guatemalan bean variety boasts a full-bodied, low-acidity profile with fruity intensity and sweet notes of chocolate and caramel.

We start with a 16-hour cold brew process for our naturally caffeinated, cask strength bourbon, blending it to a smooth 80 proof spirit for luxurious cocktails. Our proprietary cold brew method extracts fruity nuances, enhancing vanilla, chocolate, and ripe fruit notes that complement the whiskey's natural flavors.

Unlike other coffee "whiskies," our bourbon is reduced from cask strength to 80 proof using cold brew coffee, not sweetened liqueurs. The ingredients are carefully blended and filtered, resulting in a robust, fruity spirit ideal for savoring neat, on the rocks, in cocktails or crafting an espresso martini.
